Long-Term Course

Long-term courses aim to enable students to pursue their interests and study goals through lessons. Students also undergo progress evaluations during class time. The curricula are designed to help students simultaneously improve the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking.
The Japanese for Higher Education Course fosters the skills necessary to pass the first level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, so that students may go on to study at university, graduate school or business school.
The General Japanese Course is a one-year program to help students acquire conversation skills necessary for life in Japan.

Curriculum

Japanese Language for Higher Education Course

   
Curriculum
Elementary Speaking Acquisition of day-to-day conversation through basic vocabulary and sentence patterns.
Listening Listening practice of simple sentences at ordinary speed to obtain information.
Writing Learn to write hira-gana, kata-kana and approximately 400 kanji. Simple writing using learned sentence patterns and vocabulary.
Reading Acquire information from written materials such as printed matter, bulletin and other sentences written in learned kanji, vocabulary and sentence structures.
Intermediate Speaking Improve on conversational skills that is required to function in society. Practice making simple speeches and debates.
Listening Practice obtaining information from normally spoken Japanese.
Writing Write, read and summarize simple instruction, letters, and diaries.
Reading Practice conjecturing the meaning of the sentences including kanji and vocabulary that have yet to be learned. Students will have acquired 1,300 kanji and the vocabulary will have expanded to 6,000 words.
Advanced Speaking Practice debate and making speeches.
Listening Nurture apprehension of contents from TV and radio programs.
Writing Improve writing skills so that the students will be able to write essays of 1,500 to 2,000 letters by the end of the program.
Reading Students will have acquired 1,800 kanji and vocabulary of 8,000 words by the end. Try to understand the content of newspaper articles and excerpts from no-too-technical ordinary-level books.

General Japanese Language Course

Writing Learn to write hiragana, katakana and approximately 300 kanji. Simple writing using learned sentence patterns and vocabulary.
Reading Nurture ability to understand the content of day-to-day information such as bulletin and simple printed matter.
Intermediate Speaking Improve on the conversation skill that is required to function in day-to-day situation. Practice making statements of impression and speeches.
Listening Practice obtaining information from normally-spoken Japanese.
Writing Nurture ability to write invitations, greetings and simple letters.
Reading Through the medium of adopted excerpts written using already learned vocabulary and sentence patterns, comprehension of content is nurtured. High-frequency kanji will be learned.

Class period
Classes are held Monday through Friday. Each class is 45 minutes long. (20 classes per week)
Depending on the level, students take either morning or afternoon classes.

Seasonal Course

New!! - Summer Course -

This course is intended for those who wish to study during the summer holidays. It allows you to become completely engrossed in Japanese language study by providing you with 20 lessons per week for 360 hours. Students will be able to personally experience the Japanese traditional cultural arts such as flower arrangement, and calligraphy.


SUMMER INTENSIVE COURSE INFORMATION


- Time period: July 23 - August 14, 2012
- Tuition fee: 85,800 yen (class material fee and tax included)
- Class size: about 12-18 students
- Application deadline: June 1st
- The number limit: 120 students (Once the applications reach the limit, no further applications will be accepted.)

Why don’t you experience the substantial course of Japanese language lessons and the Japanese culture activities during the snow season in Sapporo?

This is a short term intensive course for Japanese learning beginners.
In addition to 32 lessons of the Japanese lecture, you can experience some kinds of Japanese culture activities as well.
The Japanese teacher training course students of this school also participate in some activities. During the culture activities you will have a chance to communicate with the Japanese students.

White Christmas Course Information

Students learn under curricula devised based on the specific needs and interests of each student.

- Admission fee (valid for three years): 10,500 yen (5% consumption tax included)
- Required forms: Application form and two photos (4 x 3 cm)
- Tuition (45-minute lessons), excluding study materials:

3,780yen (5% consumption tax included) per lesson between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
4,200yen (5% consumption tax included) per lesson between 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
4,725yen (5% consumption tax included) per off-campus lesson



Course for Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language

This course is suitable for those wishing to become Japanese language instructors or to learn more about Japanese language education. Japanese language ability equivalent to the first level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test is a prerequisite. - Total class hours: 420 hours over six months (enrollment is either April or October)
- Required forms: the same as those required for the long-term course.
- Tuition (5% consumption tax included):

Admission fee: 52,500 yen (valid for three years)
Tuition: 462,800 yen, excluding study material fees.
Facility fee: 5,250 yen
